Services Flowchart
The ADI Vocational Rehabilitation Program serves the following
adults and adolescents:
- Individuals with a mental illness
- Individuals with a physical disability;
- Brain and spinal cord injuries
- Developmentally Disabled
- Individuals with a felony or other charges
- Economically disadvantaged individuals; and/or
- Populations experiencing difficulty finding jobs in the
commercial employment market.
The ADI Vocational Rehabilitation:
- Is an
individualized, long-term process in which an individual,
in partnership with a Vocational Counselor, learns to identify
his or her strengths, resources, abilities, capabilities,
and interests in order to develop employment goals, training
and objectives
- Is not a placement service
- Is aimed
at recovery, rehabilitation, and skills training which emphasize
each individual’s strength and ability
to become independent and self-sufficient within his/her community. The
level and degree to which reintegration occurs includes consideration
of the personal choice and the readiness of each client.
- Is dedicated
to providing real world business practices and teaching normative
work skills and psychosocial rehabilitation.
Vocational
services are completed in the community or an environment that
will prepare the individual for a competitive placement.
- Situational Assessment -
A type of vocational evaluation wherein an ADI evaluator arranges
a volunteer situation within a normalized work setting similar
to the individual’s
career goal where work behaviors, strengths and barriers are
assessed.
- Vocational Exploration-
The process of assisting a consumer in identifying the appropriate
vocational goal based on interests, abilities and experience.
- Vocational Service/Treatment Plan-
The client and Vocational Counselor use the assessment information
to develop a Vocational Services Plan that identifies vocational
goals and the objectives required to meet these goals.
- Work Adjustment Training (WAT) - A type of
vocational evaluation combined with vocational training. The
evaluator arranges a situation, either volunteer or paid work,
and the evaluator focuses on training the individual on appropriate
work behaviors and interpersonal skills in the work setting.
- Personal Adjustment Training (PAT)-
Personal Adjustment Training is developing skills and/or
adjusting behavior in the areas of independent living, communication,
personal functioning, bus training et cetera.
- Job Seeking Skills Training/Development- Training
to teach individuals how to conduct job searches, prepare a resume,
complete employment applications, discuss disclosure of disability
and learn how to interview effectively
- Job Placement- “These services help
an individual procure a suitable, stable satisfactory employment
situation in an integrated setting that is consistent with the
individual’s strengths, resources, priorities, interests,
concerns, abilities, capabilities and informed choice.” (DVR,
2000)
- Volunteer Services- The Vocational Counselor
will help the client to identify appropriate volunteer opportunities
within the community and provide supportive assistance as needed.
- Job Coaching- “Training services provided
by an individual other than the employer (unless under a program
of natural supports in a supported employment placement) to an
individual with a disability after he or she has been placed
in an employment situation.” (DVR, 2000).
- Vocational Groups/Job Club-
These structured group settings are designed to provide assistance
and support for job search activities, emphasizing self-directed
job search techniques, and may focus on interviewing, resume
writing, hygiene, communication skills, stress management,
anger management and social skills.
ADI offers
individuals the chance to be trained in a number of different
areas that will benefit them in the competitive job markets of
today. ADI
